Léonie Sonning Prize 2010 awarded

After the Sacrificium-Concert on 16 June at the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, the prestigious Léonie Sonning Music Prize was bestowed upon Cecilia Bartoli.

Previous winners of this award include Benjamin Britten, Birgit Nilsson, Dmitri Shostakovich, Miles Davis, Svjatoslav Richter, Heinz Holliger, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Anne-Sophie Mutter and in 2009, Daniel Barenboim.

The speech given during the ceremony by Board Member of the Foundation, Esben Tange, will be published in the community section of this site shortly.

This memorable evening was literally crowned by the gracious presence of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and her husband Prince Henrik of Denmark.
