Cecilia Receives Two French Honours
Cecilia with the cross of Officier de l'Ordre national du Mérit, presented to her by academician Dominique Fernandez
Last week, Cecilia was honoured with two important French awards:
During the first performance of “Giulio Cesare” at Salle Pleyel, academy member and venerated author Dominique Fernandez presented her with a beautiful speech and the cross of the “Officier de l’Ordre national du Mérit”, for which she had been recommended by the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy.
In the name of the Mayor of the City of Paris, Cecilia received the “Médaille Grand Vermeille de la Ville de Paris” two days later. With this medal, First Deputy of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the Deputy Mayor assigned to Culture, Christophe Girard, acknowledged the importance of Cecilia’s work for Paris. Recent laureates of this prestigious medals include Merce Cunningham, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Oliver Stone, Diana Ross and the Institut Pasteur.
